Nikolaus Schmidt studied Marketing at the Advertising Academy of the Vienna
Economics Institute. After completing the course, he moved to London to take
a Bachelor’s degree with a key focus on typography at the London College of
Printing, where he graduated with honours.
Back in Vienna he took on employment at the Education Congress Research
Gmbh, a company dedicated to association management and congress
organisation, including the European Congress of Radiology, one of the
largest medical meetings in Europe with over 18,000 participants.
He restructured the in-house graphic department and, with a team of three
full-time employees, coordinated for two years all visual communication-related
matter of the 12 medical associations managed by the company.
In September 2007 he opened his own studio to focus on the creative process
and conceptual visual work.
My work is based on extensive, analytical research and engaged dialogue
with my clients to arrive at unique customised concepts.
I am passionate about design and believe in strong ideas with conceptual
visual solutions. I am working in a wide range of media, from brand identity
and editorial design, to web and screen design as well as architectural and
environmental design.
I like to keep things simple, but effective and pay great attention to detail.
